Season's Greetings Community!
I hope this message reaches you in positive spirits! And just like that, we are in December and winding down what has been an exciting and successful year! In the last 12 months, we’ve enjoyed an abundance of growth on our team, which has doubled in size since January! In the last month we’ve welcomed Kalina Browne as Youth Program Coordinator, Latriece Love-Goodlett as Program Manager and Nyasha Sprow as Digital Communications Assistant. We’re excited to add to our team in the new year. Read more about our new team members here.
We also continue to grow in our identity as People’s Climate Innovation Center, after launching this new brand in June in alignment with nature-based practice and the culture and ancestry reflected within our team, as well as the diversity of the movement ecosystem in which we work. Since then, things have moved ahead at full speed and we anticipate continued growth and abundance into 2023 as we continue to advance our mission to support community-driven solutions to the impacts of climate change that ultimately advance racial and climate justice.
Will you join us in our first annual giving campaign? Your investments get reinvested. This is true for at least 50 percent of our overall funding. A donation to People’s Climate Innovation Center advances our overall work and establishes initiative-specific funding streams that support:
Young Black Climate Leaders Youth Futures Fund. This fund, supports young Black leaders who are taking initiative to dismantle white supremacy culture and disrupting climate chaos. Supporting this fund enables a new generation of Black climate leaders to dream and reimagine a liberatory world through their own lens and experience in ways that truly honor and illuminate the ongoing contributions of Black people to the environmental movement and movements at large. Advancing work and initiatives at the intersection of racial and environmental justice by amplifying the power of leaders who advocate for community participation, and restoration of indigenous ecological wisdom and practices of the African diaspora. Community Driven Planning Fund through the National Association of Climate Resilience Planners (NACRP). This fund, designed and governed by NACRP members, will support community-driven planning processes that are governed by community-driven planners and facilitators. Each year, NACRP members can submit recommendations for funding to resource communities and/or facilitators accountable to Black, Brown or Indigenous communities to launch, continue, or complete a community-driven planning process. Community Climate Shift (CCS) initiative. Grow the Community Climate Shift (CCS) Fund activated by climate equity and justice practitioners across the country providing capacity building resources to frontline organizations directly practicing community-owned infrastructure. This call for a $100 million investment will support frontline organizations and coalitions’ capacity to lead partnerships with government to reduce emissions via comprehensive policy-making (building performance standards and beyond) while advancing community priorities for climate equity and justice grounded in the Just Transition framework. General Fund. Want to support a little bit of everything? Make a donation to our general fund, which supports all aspects of Climate Innovation’s work and operations.
We invite you to make a tax-deductible donation to amplify the impact and success of community-driven solutions and support the next generation of climate justice leaders! We consider all forms of giving in its act to be a gift including time you take to share about our work or connect us to others we should be building relationships with to grow our community of support.
